Adelaide to host the 5th Australia China International Film Festival

The Australia China International Film Festival (ACIFF) has unveiled its highly anticipated new host city - and it’s Adelaide!

ACIFF prepares to inspire audiences in Adelaide for the first time from 14-17 November 2024. Adelaide is the ideal host for the fifth ACIFF in 2024 as this year commemorates the tenth anniversary of the sister city relationship between Adelaide and Qingdao, forming the perfect platform for fostering further collaborations with Shandong Province.

ACIFF Chairperson Shelly Yu emphasised ACIFF’s role as a bridge for people-to-people exchanges between China and Australia, saying, “It is our wish for ACIFF to continue this year, in Adelaide, Australia’s most liveable city, to boost the relationship between the two countries.”

“The festival transcends mere cinema, serving as a dynamic platform for cultural exchange and collaboration. Through a diverse selection of films, we invite audiences to explore the rich storytelling traditions and contemporary issues of both nations, fostering understanding and unity. This year’s festival holds particular importance, symbolising the enduring friendship between our countries and the unifying power of film.”, continued Shelly Yu.

Renowned Chinese film director Yin Li echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in ACIFF’s ability to showcase the rapid development of the Chinese film industry. “I believe that the 5th ACIFF will bring more excellent Chinese movies to Australia and get more talent in this industry involved,” said Yin Li.

Established in 2014 with a vibrant inauguration in Brisbane, Australia, the Australia China International Film Festival (ACIFF) has evolved into a vital and dynamic platform for aspiring filmmakers.

Over its four successful editions, ACIFF has emerged as a pivotal conduit connecting the cinematic realms of Australia and China and is finding its new home in Adelaide, South Australia which is fittingly known as The Festival State.

Anchored by prestigious events including the prestigious Southern Cross Awards, inspiring film screenings, academic symposiums, and celebrity engagements, the ACIFF has garnered widespread acclaim, drawing in diverse participants and fostering a dedicated following.
