The 2024 Alliance Francaise French Film Festival

The iconic French Film Festival comes to Australia from 5th March - 21st April.

There’s nothing quite like the purity of French cinema in this day and age of generic Hollywood blockbusters to re-invigorate your sense of passion and desire for the theatrical experience. Thankfully, this month we have the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival coming to town to whet our whistle.

The 35th Edition of the festival (the largest French Film Festival outside of France itself) spotlights contemporary creation, focusing on the emerging talents and innovative voices shaping the French Cinematic Landscape.

Across the 41 films in the program, there are features from some of the greatest directors (Catherine Breillat, Michel Gondry, Albert Dupontel) and biggest stars (Juliette Binoche, Catherine Deneuve, Daniel Auteuil, Laure Calamy, Camille Cottin) France has to offer.

On the grand scale, the huge French box-office success The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan makes its Australian Premiere, starring Vincent Cassel and Evan Green. Catherine Deneuve, legendary French actress, plays Bernadette Chirac in The President’s Wife. The controversial Johnny Depp-starrer Jeanne du Barry makes an appearance, and the Australian premiere of Iris and the Men is sure to be an emotionally affecting experience.

The 2024 lineup is rich with compelling drama, giddy with unexpected tales of love and lust, and oozing with optimism. Don’t miss the chance to see some classic French masterpieces like Children of Paradise and the more modern classic The Intouchables.
