Queensland Film Festival
13 July 2017 to 23 July 2017
That's right, it's back. The Queensland Film Festival is a staple of the local film industry, and manages to get some really unique pieces into its lineup every year. Festival Directors John Edmond and Huw Walmsley-Evans have put together an incredible program for this years Queensland Film Festival (QFF).
QFF is dedicated to showcasing the best of contemporary international cinema in all its forms. This year the QFF2017 will be held at the historic New Farm Cinemas, from the 13th to the 23rd of July, alongside the Institute of Modern Art and the Gallery of Modern Art. QFF seeks to re-energise local film culture by providing a stimulating environment for thinking and talking about these films.
The program has some particular highlights that we'll be first in line to see. Good Time, the Robert Pattinson starrer that has critics raving with its frenetic pace and incredible lead performance, is playing on the 20th of July. I Am Not Your Negro, a film we saw and loved (read our review here), will hit festival screens on the 22nd of July, as will the powerful, Kristen Stewart anchored Certain Women. If you can't wait, the Festival opening night on 13 July is sure to be one hell of an event, and the QFF has curated some of the best, top quality shorts from Australia and around the world, with this year’s selection themed around relationships.
