MARVEL: CREATING THE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE
If you’re looking for the perfect date for the superhero-loving significant other in your life, look no further than GOMA’s upcoming exhibit. Marvel: Creating The Cinematic Universe is Australia’s first major Marvel exhibition and the largest ever presented in an art museum.
You’ll get to follow Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and all of their allies and adversaries on their journey throughout both the comic books and the cinema screen. With more than 500 artworks from Marvel’s archives and private collections, you’ll get to immerse yourself in the secret history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There will be Thor’s hammer, Captain America’s shiel and Iron Man’s armour. You can covet 60 original costumes and over 150 props, and you can even experience the never-before-seen set pieces from the upcoming film Thor: Ragnorok.
The GOMA cinema (one of the most unique cinemas in Brisbane, that shows some really interesting films) will be playing all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films over the course of the exhibition.
For all you workers, GOMA’s famed Up Late events will run weekly between Friday 28 July and Friday 1 September. They are ticketed events where you’ll get to experience live music, floor talks, a fantastic bar and more to complement your evening viewing of Marvel: Creating The Cinematic Universe.
The exhibition is also accompanied by a 240 page publication jam packed with great essays from everyone you can think of about the exhibit; including a foreword by Thor: Ragnarok (and our editors favourite) director, Taika Waititi.
